Kurigram Agricultural University (KuriAU) was established in 2021. His Excellency President and Chancellor of the University Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid has appointed me as the first Vice- Chancellor of this University. I feel very honored to be a part of the university's foundation as the first Vice-Chancellor.

Kurigram Agricultural University (KuriAU) is established to ensure the agricultural development of the north Bengal region of Bangladesh by providing quality education and research through generating quality graduates. Those are able to tackle both local and global challenges in agriculture. The world is changing with the advanced applications of technology. Agriculture and industry are tied together and both are complementary to each other. The fourth industrial revolution is an advanced digital technology; it focuses on an opportunity that could change the world in the way humans think and work. The farms and factories must implement smart technology to move very fast, and it should be an innovative application to embrace the fourth industrial revolution robustly for Bangladesh. Digital farming is more productive and sustainable than the output of the past. To grow more production, smart agricultural technology has no alternative. Interest in precision agriculture is now demanding criteria for future agricultural development that minimize environmental pollution by using harmful pesticides and fertilizers and maximize agricultural production.

I hope this university will help to maintain strong links with various higher educational institutions, universities, and research organizations at regional and global levels to conduct globally competitive research using frontier technologies, especially in agriculture. In keeping with the world, entrepreneurship development and business communication, renewable energy and green technology, geo-informatics and nanotechnology, food safety, etc. will be linked to teach the students about the transformations of agriculture. Students will be involved in work and internships.

The university is guided by the philosophy of enhancing the farmer's ability and other stakeholder's by generating, sharing, and imparting advanced knowledge and experience, along with effective application methods and techniques. With the passage of time, the university widens its areas of education and research in the most modern fields.

I will try to achieve remarkable success within its short span and continue to build up its future on solid ground with new initiatives. Through the outreach activities of the university, the potential technologies have been transferred and disseminated to the end users. These, in an integrated way, have raised the university to the level of a Center of Excellence. The faculty members devote and commit to the pursuit of a better dispensation of education and to enhancing the quality of research.
